Hinano Beer is the beer of Tahiti. Hinano Beer was launched in 1955 in Tahiti. Pierre Heyman designed the brand’s famous Vahine logo.

Opportunity & Approach

I shot proof of concept images for HINANO of Tahiti a while back. For Hinano I decided to create a series of body painting images for the brand using the iconic vahine in the red & white padeo as creative inspiration. The opportunity I was given to shoot these images opened new doors for future commercial projects for me. These images are still some of my personal favorites.

Solution

We interviewed a number of models who had a similar look of the HINANO vahine. Once we selected our model, I worked closely with Jeannette Clark who was a former Media Artist for MAC Cosmetics and had done a wide range of body painting campaigns for MAC over the years while based in New York. It took Jeannette over 5 hours to complete the pareo body painting with our model. Once they were done we headed to a secluded part of Waimanalo Beach as our model was nude (although you would never know to look from afar).

OUTCOME

/Results

We created a series of anchor images for HINANO at the Waimanalo Beach location and later in the back of Palolo Valley. The images were used in HINANOs various marketing and advertising campaigns.
