Opportunity
After completing my projects in Shanghai, I moved to Beijing China to work on the development of the online entertainment platform for HAPAMe, and parent company, MINGHE Media. This represented a rare opportunity to work with the same talented team I had worked with on the BEIJING Olympics, XFMedia, VESTASIA and DINA projects to create a new online entertainment company in Mainland China.
Approach
At HAPAMe I worked with the CEO, the investor relations department, application development and marketing teams. As mentioned above, I had previously worked with the marketing team members on other large scale projects so the transition up to this new project in Beijing was seamless.
Solution
The goals to the HAPAMe project were the same as other China projects I had worked on. We used existing creative PERT development charts to create a detailed production schedule to follow. The key difference was that there was a new software development component to the production schedule which made the project interesting.
OUTCOME
/Results
By using existing creative PERT development charts we were able to complete the HAPAMe is a relatively short amount of time. The team and I created a visual identity of the gaming company, brand guidelines, and detailed multi-lingual investor prevention which included an investor vision reel, successful outreach to European and US based venture capital companies. We also created and oversaw the HAPAMe (and MINGHE Media) office design.

HAPAMe Investor Primer
While we were working on the visual identity of the company, I had many meetings with the senior executive and development teams on the core attributes of the HAPAMe platform. From these meetings I wrote the company’s Investor Primer in English and oversaw the Chinese translation.

/Solutions
01/ First time working on an online game development company in China.
It had been a few years since I was involved in a large scale software development project (I developed software in Tokyo, Japan and Los Angeles, California for years). I was apprehensive at first but once we had developed a clear and concise production schedule I was amazed at the speed, skill, and dedication of the team in Beijing.
02/ Software development schedule had to run in parallel with the development of the identity of the company and development of the investor story.
While we were working on and debugging code, my team and I were also creating the visual identity of the company. This actually worked out really well. We were essentially rapid-prototyping the identity of the company while creating the virtual environment within with Client would interact with each other. As the online environment developed so did the identity of the company.
03/ Development and design of the office was occurring at the same time at the development of the software and HAPAMe brand.
To add to the fun - we accomplished both of the above while creating our office space. The results of this work can be seen within the MINGHE Media page on this website. This was by far the most beautiful office space design I had the pleasure of working on.
